Covid-19 Risk
Management
We have the official word from the Government documents that gatherings include voluntary or not for profit sporting, recreational, social and cultural activities. We are also not an affiliated or registered educational school so those rules do not apply to us. We also have an advantage in that we are a remote area so rules that apply to high density dance schools in the city also do not apply to us. Below is DCM’s risk management document… This will let you know ( and hopefully ease any apprehension ) about how we will keep anyone walking through the doors safe and sound.
Dance Collective Mohua (d.c.m) is a charitable trust supporting the facilitation of young people’s dance in Mohua / Golden Bay. Our activities in relation to the Protection Framework are ‘recreational gatherings’. d.c.m activities are open to all, with each activity limited in number to no more than 25 (and usually significantly less) so activities are not disrupted by changes of ‘traffic light’ settings. We are a part of an interconnected rural community with many of the young people in each activity already in contact through school, sport or friendship groups. We have assessed that the d.c.m recreational activities do not significantly increase the number of daily contacts.
Kotinga Hall, Motupipi Hall and Collingwood Area School Gym are our places of activity. For everyone’s well-being; mental, physical and emotional, these are our covid related physical care processes:
-
Sign in. No sign in for young people as the attendance record captures that information. Adults can record their presence using the provided QR codes at the halls
-
Masks. No mask wearing is expected by young people or facilitators during activities. Adults who to stay to observe their young people can use masks at their discretion
-
Ventilation. Windows and doors kept open to increase the natural movement of air
-
High touch areas cleaned before activities
We will not be producing a big end of year show this year.
Very unpredictable times in relation to performance and so feel the need to create a more robust possibility.
We will aim for 2 smaller performances in interesting and perhaps unusual places, spaces and theme.
More on that later… Our first term will be about having fun with dance with no pressure of performance.
We are aiming to facilitate a highly creative and fun year of activities with the principal outcomes of developing young people’s self worth and physical empowerment and the flow on outcomes of increased community well-being
